Objective To study the relationship between fertility desire of the college students between the only child and non-only child in Beijing after the implementation of universal two-child policy. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among college students in Beijing. The fertility desire between the only child and non-only child was compared, factors related the fertility desire were explored. Results It showed that the ideal number of children among the non-only child was two or more. People care more about the gender of their offspring in only-child family. Binary logistic regression model showed that the only child was a risk factor for gender preference( OR = 1. 92,95% CI: 1. 25 ~2. 97). People with graduate or above education( OR = 1. 94,95% CI: 1. 05 ~ 3. 58) and low family economic status( OR= 1. 67,95% CI: 1. 10 ~ 2. 54) showed son preference. Conclusion There was significant difference on fertility desire of college students between the only-child and non-only child, including ideal number of children and gender preference.
