摘　　要：With consummate writing techniques and distinct insights in Winesburg,Ohio,Sherwood Anderson meticulously portraysthe grotesque who are in the key period of the historic turning from agricultural society to industrial economy.Some grotesques arevividly portrayed from their hands to present the contradiction between their physical activities and their thirst for love and under-standing.The sincerity beneath the appearance of their hands is explored by analyzing the contradictory behavior of several gro-tesques.With consummate writing techniques and distinct insights in Winesburg, Ohio, Sherwood Anderson meticulously portraysthe grotesque who are in the key period of the historic turning from agricultural society to industrial economy.
