Purpose: To explore the value of SWI (susceptibility-weighted imaging) in evaluation of people with mental disabilities caused by traumatic brain injury. Methods: Fifty-six cases of patients with mental disorder caused by traumatic brain injury were enrolled. They were all undergone with T1WI, T2WI Flair, DWI and SWI scans. The number and location of the lesions detected by these scans were analyzed and compared. Results: In these 56 cases, T1WI showed 181 lesions, the detection rate was 50.00% (28/56), T2WI showed 185 lesions, the detection rate was 50.00% (28/56), T2 Flair showed 185 lesions, the detection rate was 50.00% (28/56), DWI showed 186 lesions, the detection rate was 55.36% (31/56), SWI showed 883 lesions, the detection rate was 80.36% (45/56), among them, lesions inl6 patient were displayed on the SWI only. Conclusion: SWI can be used to increase the lesion detection rate in patients with mental disorders caused by traumatic brain injury, and it can provide objective basis for the brain injury disability evaluation.
