银行竞争是否促进了区域全要素生产率的增长?

摘　　要：经济新常态下,银行业发展对全要素生产率增长具有重要影响,文章利用168 841家商业银行分支机构数据计算了衡量银行业竞争程度的赫芬达尔指数,采用DEA-Malmquist指数测算了210个地级市的全要素生产率,分析了2004—2012年银行竞争程度对城市层面全要素生产率的影响,研究发现:就全样本而言,银行竞争能够促进全要素生产率的提升,但是存在明显的区域差异,银行竞争的加剧能够提升东部与中部地区城市的全要素生产率,但西部与东北地区银行竞争的加剧并未对全要素生产率产生明显影响;市场化程度较高地区,银行竞争能够促进全要素生产率的改善,而市场化程度较低地区,银行竞争的正向促进作用并不显著;就不同城市级别而言,省级城市银行竞争的加剧对全要素生产率提高没有明显作用,而普通地级市银行竞争的加剧能够显著提高全要素生产率。Under the new normal economic situation,the development of banking industry has an important impact on the growth of total factor productivity. By adopting the data from 168 841 branches and subsidiaries of commercial banks,this paper calculates the Huffindale index which measures the competitiveness of the banking industry,measures the total factor productivity of 210 prefecture-level cities by using DEA-Malmquist index,and analyzes the impact of banking competitiveness intensity on the total factor productivity at urban level from 2004 to2012. The results show that as far as the whole sample is concerned,banking competition can promote TFP,but there are obvious regional differences： the intensification of banking competition promotes TFP in eastern and central cities but has no obvious impact on TFP in western and northeastern regions. A further analysis shows that banking competition can promote the improvement of TFP in the areas with higher marketization degree but has no significant positive effect in the areas with lower marketization degree,and that as far as different city levels are concerned,the intensification of banking competition in provincial cities has no obvious effect on the improvement of TFP while the intensification of banking competition in ordinary prefecture level cities can significantly promote TFP.
