Objective To determine the effect of hand ball massage on the post operative anxiety and depression of patients of craniocerebral tumor. Methods A total of 80 patients having undergone lumpectomy of craniocerebral tumors were randomly divided into an experimental group(n=40) and a control group(n=40).The control group were treated with conventional nursing method. The experimental group were subjected to hand ball massage exercise in addition to nursing care as given to the control. The states of depression and depression of the two groups after treatment were then compared. Results The SAS scores and SDS scores of the experimental group were(43.2±2.8) and(37.5±1.9),respectively,which were lower than those in the control group(P〈0.05).After treatment, the VRS score was 4.2±0.7,which was lower than that of the control(P〈0.05).The rate of incidence of complications in the experimental group was 7.5%,which was lower than that in the control group(25.0%).The difference was statistically significant(χ^2=6.025,P〈0.05).Conclusions Hand ball massage can effectively reduce the postoperative anxiety and depression as well as the pain of craniocerebral tumor patients. It is worthy of clinical application.
