意义的增值:论《一九八四》中的温斯顿“死亡”结尾

摘　　要：英国作家乔治·奥威尔以其作品鲜明的政治倾向、对极权政治的尖锐揭露在世界文坛声誉极高。其代表作《一九八四》刻画了以温斯顿·史密斯为代表的试图反叛极权、追求自由与希望的个体在肉体与精神的双重折磨下最终走向毁灭的抗争过程。小说的结尾戛然而止,使人不禁追问:温斯顿是否遭受了枪决?作品的结尾对把握整部作品的深层内涵和实现艺术效果具有关键作用,可以赋予一部作品"终极关怀",温斯顿的结局由此成为了作品产生秘密与吸引读者深入探索的源泉之一。本文通过对文本中反复出现的死亡意象和伏笔等进行分析,尝试从作家的创作意图、内在逻辑与结构、叙事技巧等方面阐释《一九八四》的结尾,探索小说解读的新角度。British author George Orwell wins great fame in the literary world for his distinctive political orientation and poignant reveal targeting totalitarian politics. His masterpiece Nineteen Eighty-Four displays the struggle of individuals fighting against totalitarian regime and striving for their freedom and hope represented by the hero Winston Smith,and their failure after both physical and mental tortures. The novel has an unexpected,sudden ending,which leads to the question： has the hero Winston faced the execution？ Ending of literary work could be vital to understanding the deep meaning and achieving better artistic effect by providing its ultimate concern and a closure,therefore,Winston＇s fate becomes a great source for suspension and readers＇ exploration. This paper intends to demonstrate the novel with a new interpretation through analysis of details like repeated death images and foreshadowing,in terms of writing intentions,internal logic,structure,narrative techniques,etc.
