摘　　要：俞天愤不仅是中国侦探小说的先驱,而且是一个深有远见的报人。他始终秉承着守故鼎新的编辑思想,既重视常熟传统文化的精神传承,立足现实,关注民生;又以宽广的胸襟,放眼未来,引进各种新思潮。这种编辑思想的形成得益于士绅家庭的影响、报刊同仁间的交互以及上海文化的辐射。近代报人俞天愤的编辑思想及其具体实践活动不仅促进了常熟近代文化的现代转型,而且某种程度上参与了中国文化的现代性进程。Yu Tianfen was not only a pioneer of Chinese detective novels, but also a far-sighted journalist. He had always been obedience to the editorial ideology of adhering to the past and presenting new aspects, attaching importance to the spiritual inheritance of the traditional culture in Changshu by keeping a foothold on reality and paying close attention to the people's livelihood on the one hand; and keeping eyes on the future with a generous mind and introducing various new thoughts on the other hand. The formation of this kind of editorial thoughts benefited from the influence of the gentry family,from the interaction between the colleagues in the newspapers and from the radiation of Shanghai culture. The editing ideas of the modern journalist Yu Tianfen and his specific practical activities not only promoted the modern transformation of Changshu's culture, but also participated in the modernization process of Chinese culture to some extent.
