Through adding different types of flocculants to anaerobic ammonia oxidation sludge, this study investigated the effect of chemical floceulants and biological floeculants MBFA9 on settleability and denitrification efficiency of anaerobic ammonia oxidation sludge. The experiment' results showed that both floeculants improved the settleability of anaerobic ammonia oxidation sludge and the flocculated sludge shaped like a ball. After 11 days of continuous culture, the average removal rates of NH4+-N and NO2- -N were up to 88.13% (87.38% for the control), and 85.40% (85.44% for the control), respectively. However, the maximum removal rates of NH4+ -N and NO2- -N were just 39.64% and 32. 89% , respectively, when poly-aluminum chloride was added. MBFA9 had no effect on denitrification efficiency of anaerobic ammonia oxidation sludge, which was proved to be suitable for the mantaining of ANAMMOX sludge.
