摘　　要：2001年诺贝尔文学奖获得者V.S.奈保尔在其非洲题材小说中将非洲丛林经历的意义颠覆和重组,描述成与欧洲文明开化之地截然不同的文化语境,显性描写与隐性描写杂糅在非洲丛林书写之中,渗透着其意识形态的非洲丛林已经成为考问西方文明实质的最佳语境。然而奈保尔文化身份的嬗变使得小说的文化逻辑与作者的主观意图已然断裂,最终使得这种"文化救赎"在表层上是非政治的、乌托邦式的,其隐性层面上则最终折射出英国中心论、欧洲中心论。V.S.Naipaul describes an ＂exotic world＂ by subverting and reconstructing African jungle images. The explicit and implicit description of the jungle blends together in his novels, and white people of the West, especially their spiritual experiences are the center of his narration. He expects the tough African jungle would heal the psychological conflicts and spiritual crisis of the Edwardian British. However, Naipaul＇ s ＂moral salvation＂ puts him under an awkward position in the African jungle, and causes a fracture between his cultural logic and his subjective intention. The evolution of his cultural identity makes this ＂moral salvation＂ non-political and utopian, and eventually reflects Naipaul＇s British-centered or Europe-centered standpoint.
