对照手法在心情戏剧小说《布里尔小姐》中的认知意义分析

摘　　要：凯瑟琳·曼斯菲尔德的短篇小说《布里尔小姐》没有波澜壮阔的情节,却以戏剧化的结构表现了主人公从兴奋走向失落的过程,此类属于心情戏剧小说。该小说通过老年人与年轻人之间的、布里尔小姐渴望交流与孤单的身影、人物的笑与笑背后的凄苦之间的对照凸显了主人公凄苦的晚境。对照作为修辞学中的一个修辞格,具有自己的认知意义与价值。从某种意义来说,小说的戏剧性结构本身与布里尔小姐的心境之间也形成一种相互对立的对照关系,成为布里尔小姐没有生气的人生的一个映现。Katherine Mansfield＇s short story Miss Brill has no magnificent plot, but shows the hero＇s process from excitement to loss with a dramatic structure. This kind of drama belongs to the mood drama. Through the comparison between the old and the young, Miss Brill is eager to communicate and her lonelyfigture, and the contrast between the laughter and the pain behind the laughter, the novel highlights the protagonist＇s bitter night. As a rhetorical device in rhetoric, contrast has its own cognitive significance and value. In a sense, the dramatic structure of the novel itself and Miss Brill＇s state of mind also form a contrasting relationship, which is a reflection of Miss Brill＇s lifeless life.
