However, the test takes a lot of time - 400 hours for the IEEE 1553 Schedule A option. The author's company is developing a shorter duration test - an Accelerated VET - that offers the same kind of confirmation of generator stator coil insulation quality, but at a dramatically shorter test time, 50 hours and less, This article describes VET including recent work done by the authors to evaluate acceleration factors for different components of generator stator winding insulation systems. New testing and development of different acceleration factors for different portions of the generator stator bar insulation system are presented.
