摘　　要：欧洲文学,特别是英国成长小说体现了时代与社会密切联系的特点,这成为美国成长小说的历史溯源,通过早期、鼎盛时期、当代三个不同阶段,体现了美国成长小说不同时期发展形势及作品特征,早期积极向上的进取精神,鼎盛期的创新精神,当代的社会人文精神,说明美国成长小说正在以自身独特的文学魅力不断向更加成熟的道路发展。European literature, especially the British growth novels, embody the characteristics of the close relationship between the times and the society, which becomes the historical trace of American growth novels. The development situation and features of American growth novels can be reflected through the three different phases they have undergone and the sprit in each phase： the positive and enterprising spirit in early stage, the innovative spirit in heyday and the humanistic spirit in contemporary society, which shows that American growth novels are constantly developing towards a more mature path with their unique literary charm.
