摘 要:Tom Cohen’s Anti-Mimesis:From Plato to Hitchcock poses the question of a materiality of the text in the Western tradition that is antagonistic to the traditions of mimetic interpretation that emerge to control their transmission, iconization,or cultural usages—this antagonism goes to the core problems of tele-materialities and the mutation of reading inTom Cohen's Anti-Mimesis: From Plato to Hitchcock poses the question of a material- ity of the text in the Western tradition that is antagonistic to the traditions of mimetic inter- pretation that emerge to control their transmission, iconization, or cultural usages -- this antagonism goes to the core problems of tele-materialities and the mutation of reading in the era of digital capital and climate chaos. Cohen's early work of hyper-literary theory, as it relates to "close reading", is also a meditation on how key texts in the canon harbor events of inscription that alter histories and give rise to hermeneutic reaction formations. The book represents an unexpected argument at a time when cultural studies was on the rise, and tex- tual focuses, such as "deconstruction" contained. Cohen argues that the turn toward "cul- tural studies" involves an irreversible cultural return toward a mimeticism and ideology of "lived life" that he posits is regressive in an era that is asked to rethink not only the materi- ality of memory and its mutating technics, but that of a climate change horizon that appears bound to the epoch of literature (and cinema).
