谈华美协进社在梅兰芳访美演出中的作用

摘　　要：华美协进社在梅兰芳1930年的访美演出中起到了重要作用,完全漠视这种作用和盲目夸大这种作用都是不正确的。本文将结合相关原始外文资料,对国内外各种不同论述进行辨析,以求对华美协进社在梅兰芳访美演出过程中所起的作用给予客观深入的分析与实事求是的评价。本文认为,华美协进社并不是最早发起邀请梅兰芳访美演出的,也不是梅兰芳访美演出的主办者和资助者。华美协进社发挥的作用主要体现在:一是帮助梅剧团在美国进行宣传,在高校中造势,促进社会各界关注中国京剧;二是参与梅兰芳巡回演出、帮助处理一些日常事务等。Though the China Institute in America played an important role in Mei Lanfang＇s tour to the US in 1930, it is unnecessary to overestimate or underestimate of the significance of this visit. This paper, based on reviews of source foreign materials and various research home and abroad, strives at an objective and in-depth analysis and evaluation of the role of the China Institute in America, which proves to be neither the first to invite Mei Lanfang to the US, nor the organizer or sponsor of his tour. It mainly contributes to the tour in the following two aspects： first, the publicity in the colleges and universities which draws wide attention to Peking opera; second, assistance of daily affairs in Mei＇s tour.
