Cities in the metropolitan area are interconnected by means of transportation networks. Rail transit is the preferred mode of transportation within the metropolitan area by virtue of its advantages of convenience, efficiency, and friendliness. Rail transit helps speed up the integration of metropolitan areas. With the initial formation of the Qingdao metropolitan area, it is necessary to discuss and analyze the status quo of rail transit in the Qingdao metropolitan area. After summarizing the problems existing in the rail transit in Qingdao metropolitan area, there are several problems such as the unbalanced development of urban rail transit, the relatively low rail transit and the development level of intercity rail transit. Drawing on the development of rail transit between metropolitan area and Greater Paris area, and combining the regional characteristics of Qingdao metropolitan area, it is concluded that the metropolitan area of Qingdao should speed up the pace of development of urban rail transit in Weifang City, reasonably select the traffic standard according to the characteristics of the circle and strengthen the connection of different traffic systems.
