摘　　要：为适应时代与社会发展的需求,美国联邦政府于1956年适时地颁布了《图书馆服务法案》。从历史发展的角度来看,它开启了美国现代公共图书馆联邦立法和联邦政府财政支持公共图书馆的历程,堪称美国公共图书馆历史上里程碑式的法案。文章通过对《图书馆服务法案》的产生背景、内容精要、影响和启示进行总结和评述,探讨该法案的历史贡献与不足,希望给我国公共图书馆政策研究者和图书馆从业者提供一个对比视角,以为他山之石。In order to meet the needs of the times and social development, the US federal government issued the Library Service Act in 1956. From the perspecive of historical development, it started a history of federal legislation and fnancial support of federal government for the public libraries, which can be said to be a milestone in the development of American public libraries. This article summarizes and comments on the Act’s backgrounds, main provisions, and effects and inspirations, hoping to dig deeper into its historical contribution and deficiencies and therefore offer a comparative perspective for the Chinese public library policy-makers and librarians.
