Purpose: To explore the importance of CT scann taken as an auxiliary method in the diagnosis of patients with gastro - fundic varices. Materials and Methods: The findings of barium meal radiographic examination and/or CT scanning in 17 patients in whom male and female were 15 and 2 cases, respectively, and whose age ranged between 30 - 81 years with a mean age of 50 years were reported. All patients initially underwent barium meal radiography with hypotonic double contrast: 2 patients of them underwent additional CT scanning. Results: Findings of barium meal radiography were mainly various changes occurred in gastro - fundic mucosal fold, such as thickening, flexing or overlapping each other and formed an irregular filling defect with “ Pseudotumorlike” appearance or extended from cardia into whole gastro - fundus, in some cases, nodal shadow of soft tissue can be found in gastric vacule. CT findings were round or nodal - form shadow with soft tissue density collected between esophagus and gastro - fundic posterius wall and the irregularity of gastro - fundic ento - cavitary wall. Conclusion: when mass occur by the side of esophagus in thoracic cavity or abnormal mass occur in spleen, kidney, post - peritoneum, it should perform CT scanning to elevate the accuracy of diagnosis.
