摘　　要：Aluminum Corp.of China (Chalco,SH:601600),the nation’s largest maker of alu-mina and aluminum,posted a loss of RMB1.89 billion in the first quarter of 2009,com-pared with a net profit of RMB 1.25 billionfor the first quarter in 2008.That followed anunprofitable fourth quarter of 2008 when thecompany lost RMB2.57 billion.As Chalco digested most of the own alu-mina products,the rise or fall in alumina priceshas only limited impact on the company’searnings.But aluminum prices could deter-
