摘　　要：Xanthan gum is a high polymer producedwith hydrocarbons (such as corn and starch)as major raw materials through microbialfermentation and a series of biochemicalprocesses.Its main ingredients includeglucose,mannitose,glucuronic acid,aceticacid and pyruvic acid.Its molecular weightreaches 2-6 million.Xanthan gum is extensivelyused in more than 20 sectors such aspetroleum,food,pharmaceuticals,textiles,dyeing/printing,ceramics,pesticides,firefighting,ore dressing,cosmetics。
