摘　　要：新世纪中日关系的发展不仅受到中日两国自身政治、经济等方面内部因素的制约,同时还受到世界多极化、经济全球化、世界民主化、美国的强权政治、东北亚和东南亚局势等外部因素的影响.The article,previously a speech delivered at a CASS symposium on SinoJapanese relations,discusses the impact created by multipolarization and globalization on the development of SinoJapanese relationship which is also affected by the U.S.powerpolitics.The author maintains that a fashionable topic is now prevailing throughout academic circle:global democratization would inevitably come along with economic globalization.However,“democratization”should be properly interpreted.Influenced by the U.S.and other western countries' thrusting“democratization”upon China,Japan also dances to the American tune in recent years,thus some what deteriorating SinoJapanese relations.The author believes the new administration of the United States will probably adopt neorealistic attitude and follow a policy of military enhancement toward China.This will give some uncertainty to SinoJapanese relationship.Besides,the situation changes in Northeast and Southeast Asia and the space of activities offered by the UN can be an important condition beneficial for both China and Japan to achieve better cooperation.
