Tabular Subgrains—Abnormal Grain Growth in Sintered Alumina

摘　　要：The grain-growth behavior of Al2O3 powder compacts with small contents(<5wt%) of various dopants was studied .The existence of tabular sub-grains were observed with all the following dopants: V2O5,MgO+Y2O3 and Na2B4O7+V2O3+Pr.The tabular subgrains are defined as the abnormal grains longer than 30μm with an aspect ratio >50. They can be observed when the sintering temperature are higher than 1850℃。
