基督教在近代湖南的慈善事业

摘　　要：基督教在湖南的传播及其慈善活动是近代湖湘文化和中国基督教发展史的重要内容。基督教为了在民风强悍的湖南传教,采用的方法主要是通过开展社会事工间接传教,这包括教会教育和医疗、灾赈、育婴慈幼等慈善事业。这些慈善活动为湖南近代慈善事业的发展起到较大推动的作用,有助于湖南近代化的进程,也是基督教博爱精神的具体体现。The spread of Christianity in Hunan and its activities are the part and parcel of modern Hunan culture and the development history of Christianity in China.To preach Christianity to the tough-styled folks of Hunan,the missionary work is mainly done indirectly by conducting social work,which includes education,medical treatment,disaster relief,infant care and so on.These charity activities play a major role in promoting the development of philanthropy in modern Hunan,which is conducive to the process of the modernization in Hunan and the embodiment of the Christian philanthropic spirit.
