摘　　要：田伯烈的著作《外人目睹中之日军暴行》是一部真实反映南京大屠杀中日军暴行的记录资料，该书的翻译、出版对揭露日军南京大屠杀暴行起到了很大的促进作用。然而一些所谓的学者质疑田伯烈是中国国民党国际宣传处雇佣的情报工作员，以此试图抹杀田伯烈和该书的存在意义。本文从国民党国际宣传处对日宣传工作的实情着手，证明其虽支持了该书的出版发行工作，但目的是为揭露日军暴行。田伯烈则是完全依据个人意志和正义感编写了该书。Harold John Timperley's book,“What War Means:The Japanese Terror in China”,is a record of the Japanese brigades in the Nanjing Massacre.The translation and publication of the book have played a significant role in exposing the Japanese massacre of the Nanjing massacre.However,some scholars questioned Harold John Timperley,an intelligence worker employed by the China Kuomintang’s international propaganda office,in an attempt to obliterate Harold John Timperley and the significance of the book.This article from the Kuomintang International Propaganda Department on the day of the work of the truth,to prove that although it supports the publication of the book,but the purpose is to expose the Japanese atrocities.Harold John Bolian wrote the book,based entirely on personal will and sense of justice.
