摘　　要：同前辈黑人女作家的作品相比,爱的主题在麦克米兰的作品中呈现出更多样的形式:离异母亲的不懈恋、女尊男卑的跨阶层恋、大龄女的恨嫁恋、女大男小的忘年恋、挑战世俗的跨种族恋、经历危机的中年恋和美如纯酿的黄昏恋。爱的主题也被赋予了更丰富的内涵:黑人女性是爱的勇敢追求者;她们对浪漫爱情有了更多的期许,企盼精神之爱和肉体之爱的契合;她们对爱的追求可以突破男权社会和种族社会的规约;她们的行动证明了爱绝不是年轻人的专享。通过对爱的主题的详尽呈现与多方位诠释,麦克米兰赋予当代黑人女性气质以新的特点——独立、主动、以自我为中心并构建和谐自我。她对黑人女性气质的重新定义,不仅颠覆了传统主流文化中根深蒂固的刻板化黑人女性气质,而且丰富和发展了前辈黑人女性作家对黑人女性气质的定义。同时,麦克米兰也传承了黑人女性文学和黑人女性主义批评贯彻始终的主旨之一:黑人女性的自我定义。Compared with the works of the black women writers who have established themselves much earlier,Terry McMillan’s fiction reveals many types of love including persistent love of a divorced mother,love between a poor man and a rich woman,left over women’s love to marry,love between an older woman and a younger man,cross-racial love,a middle-aged woman’s love in crisis,and twilight love of an elderly woman.Moreover,the theme of love has been endowed with multiple connotations.Black women are determined to be the pursuers of love;they long more for romance,in hope of the union of spiritual and physical love.They are brave enough to break through the confinements imposed upon them by the patriarchal and racial society;their efforts prove that middle-aged and elderly women are entitled to enjoy love like younger women.Through dealing with the theme of love,McMillan has demonstrated new features of black femininity:independence,taking initiatives,self-centeredness and construction of harmonious self.McMillan’s redefinitions of black femininity not only overturn the stereotypical images of black femininity popularized by mainstream culture,but also help enrich and develop the definitions offered by the older generation of black women writers.In the meantime,McMillan has inherited one of the major purports of black women’s literature and black feminism,which is self-definition of black women.
