Objective To study the relationship between infarct location and cognitive impairment in elderly patients with cerebral infarction. Methods 132 elderly patients with cerebral infarction were enrolled into the study,MRI was used to determine the lesion location,Montreal cognitive assessment scale(MoCA)and mini mental state scale(MMSE)were used to divided the patients into non dysfunction group of 60 cases, and dysfunction group of 72 cases, the relationship of infarction and cognitive function was studied. Results There were 20 patients in the non dysfunction group with the posterior cerebral artery blood supply area,25 cases of the middle cerebral artery blood supply area, and the other 15 cases. The proportion of the anterior cerebral cortex, the left hemisphere and the cortex was higher in the dysfunctional group than those in the non functional group(all P<0.05).The proportion of the anterior and posterior limbs of the internal capsule was not different(P>0.05).Conclusion There is a correlation between the lesion location and cognitive dysfunction in the elderly patients with infarction. To strengthen the diagnosis of cognitive function in clinic can promote the recovery of cognitive function.
