摘　　要：Charles Morris constructs his semiotics on the basis of scientific empiricism. The latter is the combination of three schools of thought, namely, formalism, empiricism and pragmatism. The former similarly consists of three parts, i.e., syntactics, semantics and pragmatics. The three philosophical schools of thought contribute to the three major components of Morris' s semiotics.Charles Morris constructs his semiotics on the basis of scientific empiricism.
