Sciences of human settlements proposed by Wu liang-yong peaks in the area of architecture and planning in China. This paper analyzes the sciences of human settlements from STS perspective.Firstly, this paper finds some homogeneous parts between sciences of human settlements and STS.Based on those, the paper provides the view from methodology of engineering, and thinks that the sciences of human settlements is the specific representation of methodology of engineering rather than science or technology. Then, this paper finds creative ideas in deep ecology and complexity science, and analyzes the movements to cross the chasm between sciences and humanities. In addition, this paper not onhy shows the attempt to cope the tension between experts and the public in sciences of human settlements, but also reveals its limitation. On the basis of those, the authors present that sciences of human settlements should improve aspects of knowledge in planning and methodology of engineering, and introduce some concepts to harmonize different kinds of knowledge in this framework, such as technoscience, sociotechnology, and technological framework.
