摘　　要："美国梦"是美国人民的普遍理想与信仰,同样也是美国人的传统价值观和民族精神的标志,两者均被视为美国文化的精髓。在《了不起的盖茨比》中,菲茨杰拉德塑造了盖茨比这样一个充满矛盾的人物,将其植入美国梦的历史语境,旨在深刻地反观美国的现实社会。The“American dream”is the common ideal and belief of the American people and it is also the symbol of American traditional values and national spirit.Both are regarded as the core essence of American culture.In The Great Gatsby,Fitzgerald characterizes Gatsby as a person of contradiction,embedding him in the historical context of American dream for the purpose of revealing with profundity the reality of the American society of his times.
