The theory of"speakable" and"unspeakable" is two important concepts in the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus of Wittgenstein. In essence,"speakable" refers to the clear and meaningful proposition, which mainly is the natural science proposition, while the "unspeakable" mainly includes the " ethics"," aesthetics"," metaphysics" and other matters which do not express the facts about the world. Wittgenstein's expression of unspeakable things has the similar function of a ladder and is carried out at a higher level. Specifically, with the aid of ladders, people can clearly see what is speakable and unspeakable. Wittgenstein believed that only those who enter this kind of realm can truly understand the true meaning of "unspeakable", that is, to throw away the ladder. In a word, this article mainly discussed the connotation of Wittgenstein's thoughts of "speakable" and "unspeakable", and divided their boundaries, thus finally reaching a state of transcendence.
