摘 要:饶宗颐先生治学广博,文、艺、学皆擅,在中华文化乃至域外文化诸多领域均卓有建树,为国内外学界所共仰。他毕生孜孜不倦地研究中华文化,其中一个目的就是念兹在兹的中华民族文化的复兴。饶宗颐主张之"华学",即"知己功夫、反求诸己"的传统中华文化之学,他认为现今国人应找回中华传统文化的真义,重塑民族文化自信心。研究"华学",必须具备史学的关联主义,故首倡"三重证据法"、"五重证据法"等方法。饶宗颐更提倡"新经学",即中国古典学在新时代的复兴,希望建立一套全面而系统地代表中华民族文化和思想、感情传统的"圣经",为当代中华文化发展奠定精神基础。为此,学者可以先成专家,然后再追慕会通,以终成"通人"为目标。Excelling at literature,art and research,Prof.Jao Tsung-i(1917~2018)was a renowned versatile scholar who made remarkable achievements in various fields of Chinese studies and others.His life-long hard work was intentionally dedicated to the renaissance of Chinese culture.Prof.Jao advocated for“Huaxue”,i.e.the studies of traditional Chinese culture,as he believed that the nation and its people should learn more about their own tradition and rebuild the lost confidence in their own ethnicity and culture.To achieve the goal,he proposed the historiographical methodologies“Triple Evidence”and“Quintuple Evidence”.Prof.Jao also called for the“New Chinese Classics”,hoping to compile a set of“Bible”which could present the culture,thoughts and tradition of our people in the most comprehensive and systematic way,and could serve as the spiritual base to the development of the contemporary Chinese culture.A scholar of Chinese studies,as he suggested,therefore might become a specialist first,and then expand his/her range of his/her research,and making interdisciplinary use of the vast knowledge.
