Objective The preliminary pharmacodynamics of the Fe(Ⅱ)-hydrolysate of colla corii asini were studied by protease digestion and ferrous chloride(FeCl2·4 H2O) treatment. Methods The therapeutic effect of Fe(Ⅱ)-HCCA on blood rehydration was investigated by using a model of mice with iron deficiency anemia(IDA)caused by low iron diet. Results The results showed that Fe(Ⅱ)-HCCA had effective restorative action returning hematological parameters in IDA mices to normal level. The peptide-iron chelate can significantly increase the values of HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH,CHCM and MCHC in blood of mice with iron deficiency anemia(P<0.01),and decrease HDW,RDWvalue(P<0.01).The findings suggest that Fe(Ⅱ)-HCCA is an effective source of iron supplement for IDA mice. Conclusion Fe(Ⅱ)-HCCA can improve the symptoms of iron deficiency anemia.
