Objective To explore the effect of head nurse-led intensive management training on nurses' mental stress level and work enthusiasm. Methods During the period from January to June 2018, 40 nurses employed in the Shandong Provincial Chest Hospital were randomly selected as the analysis subjects, who were given the management training by head nurses. Corresponding professional management training on nurses was organized by head nurses. After the head nurses implemented the management system intervention for the nurses, the nurses' mental stress and work enthusiasm were compared before and after the management, and the scoring system was used for investigation. Results Before management, nurses' depression and anxiety scores were (12.34±2.01) and (11.43±2.45) respectively, and after management, the scores were (8.32±1.01) and (8.45±1.12) respectively. After the management system was implemented for the nurses, the nurses' depression and anxiety scores were much lower than those before the management, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). After the management was implemented by head nurses, the nurse's work enthusiasm scores, including self-evaluation and doctors' and nurses' evaluations, were (8.99±2.57),(9.23±1.12), and (9.33±2.32), respectively, which were higher than those of (5.78±1.67),(6.23±1.45), and (6.02±1.10) before management, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The stress level of the nurses is significantly reduced, and their work enthusiasm is significantly improved before and after the head nurse-led intensive management. Therefore, the management of the head nurses plays an effective role in the mental stress and work enthusiasm of the nurses.
