Spinal cord injury treatment is a central nervous system-related disease, which has long been a concern. Recently,cell-based therapies have been widely used in spinal cord injury(SCI),including the use of multipotent stem cells (such as embryonic stem cells) and specialized human stem cells (such as nerves stem cells),as well as many other adult stem cells (such as mesenchymal stem cells, olfactory bulb ensheathing cells (OECs)). Among them,OECs have stem-like cell characteristics and exert obvious advantages in nerve damage repair, which significantly promote obvious axonal growth and nerve repair. A large number of studies have focused on OECs treatment for post-injury repair of central nervous system, especially SCI,which includes the joint of growth factors or other cells (such as adipose-derived stem cells, schwann cells and genetic modification). This review will clarify the role and molecular mechanism of OECs for the treatment of SCI.
