Objective To evaluate the application value of volume rendering technique in diagnosis of rib fracture. Methods A total of 100 patients with rib fracture who underwent 64-slice spiral CT examination in our hospital from March2017 to December 2017 were enrolled in the study,At first, these patients were examined by thin-slice CT scan, then the number and location of rib fractures diagnosed by the three kinds of postprocessing techniques including multiplanar reconstruction(MPR),curved surface reconstruction(CPR) and volume rendering technique(VRT) was recorded, and the sensitivity and specificity of the three kinds of examination methods were observed and compared. Results The detection rate of rib fracture by CPR was significantly higher than that by VRT,which by MPR was significantly higher than that by VRT(P<0.05).Moreover the sensitivity and specificity of CPR were 91.64%,99.66%,respectively,which by MPR were90.24%,99.71%,respectively,which by VRT were 87.00%,99.83%,respectively.Conclusion The specificity of VRT is the highest among the three kinds of examination methods in diagnosis of rib fracture, however, its sensitivity is lower, which can be used in screening of rib fracture.
