摘　　要：蔡元培是科举路上的成功者,却很早就成了旧文化的反叛者。辛亥革命前后,他已经多次参与思想文化革新的事业,早在陈独秀创办《新青年》之前,就曾为新文化运动而努力。正因为这样,到了“五四”时期,他才大力支持《新青年》集团,并且成了新文化运动的推动者和保护神。Though succeeded in the imperial examination, Cai Yuanpei rebelled against the old culture early than the others. Around the revolution of 1911, he participated in ideological and cultural innovation for many times, working hard for the new culture movement before the time when Chen Duxiu founded the journal La Jeunesse. Cai strongly supported La Jeunesse during the May Fourth Movement, becoming the promoter and protector for the New Culture Movement.
