Objective To explore the effects of aerobic and resistance training on cardiovascular disease(CVD)risk indicators in T2 DM patients. Methods 65 T2 DM patients were randomly assigned to 2 groups:aerobic training(AT,n=33)and resistance training(RT,n=32)group. The two groups underwent 6 months of moderate intensity exercise. Results The difference value of WC,muscle mass and Homocysteine(Hcy)concentrations(6 months later-baseline)between 2 groups were significant difference(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). In RT group, the muscle mass,Fins and Hcy levels were significantly different before and after 6 months intervention(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Correspondingly,AT group had significant difference in WC,WHR,FPG,TC and serum cystatin C(Cys-C)before and after training(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Both groups can effectively increase HDL-C levels and reduce HbA1 c,Framingham risk scores and CVD 10-year risks. Conclusion Resistance training has obvious advantages in the increase of muscle mass and the decrease of Hcy concentration which may be recommended to prevent CVD.
