摘　　要：The ruling coalition's failure to win a supermajority in the upper house of parliament shows resistance to constitutional revision The ruling Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its junior partner the Komeito Party won 71 of the 124 seats in the House of Councilors election held on July 21, falling short of the two-thirds majority it needed in the 245-seat upper house of the National Diet to revise the nation's constitution.
