TermoStat辅助下的清末气象术语英汉翻译研究——以《测候丛谈》为例

摘　　要：本文对《测候丛谈》展开个案研究,旨在管窥清末时期的气象术语翻译策略和翻译质量。本文首先对译文及其英语原文进行电子化处理,借助TermoStat从文本中提取双语气象术语数据,然后总结了译者采用的翻译策略并评估了术语翻译的质量。笔者发现译者灵活使用了直译、意译、音译、合译等多种处理方法,对术语系统性的处理较为成功,但是准确性、简明性、一致性等方面还存在不足。This paper attempts a case study of Cehou Congtan with the purpose of probing into the strategies for, and the quality of, meteorological term translation in the Late Qing Dynasty. The originals and the translations are first converted into plain texts and meteorological terms and their Chinese equivalents are extracted with the aid of TermoStat. Then the translation strategies are described and the translation quality is assessed. The study reveals that the translators made wise use of such strategies as metaphrasing, paraphrasing, transliteration and merging. It is also found that, while they rendered the systematicity of some terms successfully, the translators fell short in terms of accuracy, conciseness and consistency in some cases.
