摘 要:近年来,中国现代都市研究成为学术界的热门领域,尤其以现代上海为中心的研究成就斐然。相对而言,人们对民国时期另一个城市北京的关注却少得多。事实上,民国时期的北京是一座名副其实的文化城,当地政府也致力于其文化中心地位的塑造。因此北京的文化事业在此期间显示出旺盛的生命和活力,各个大学的学术水平迅速提升,报社、书局、沙龙、书肆、曲艺场所、电影院、琉璃厂、图书馆、公园等文化娱乐设施数量迅速增加。这些都表明,民国时期北京文化所呈现出的斑斓面貌理应得到充分的重视,20世纪二三十年代的北京都市研究仍有着广阔的学术空间。In recent years, modern Shanghai is a hot topic in modern urban research in China while Beijing has been paid much less attention to in the period of the Republic of China. In fact, Beijing in the Republic of China is a real cultural city, and the local government is also committed to making Beijing as a cultural center. Therefore, during this period, Beijing’s cultural undertakings have shown vigorous life and vitality with rapid improvement of the academic level of various universities, the increasing number of cultural and entertainment facilities such as newspapers, bookstores, salons, quyi venues, cinemas, glass factories, libraries, parks and so on. All of these show that the culture of Beijing in the period of the Republic of China deserves full attention, and there is still a broad academic prospect for Beijing’s Urban Research in the 1920s and 1930s.
