摘　　要：吴定良先生是我国著名的生物统计学家、体质人类学家,中央研究院首届院士。他1927年师从卡尔·皮尔逊,分别获得统计学博士学位和人类学博士学位,1931年被选为国际统计学会第一位中国会员,是我国首位具有重大国际影响的统计学家。本文从统计史的角度整理了吴定良的生平及其研究成果与贡献,希望后人能够学习他既重视统计理论和方法的研究,更强调理论联系实际、解决实际问题的统计思想。Dr.T.L.Woo was an outstanding Chinese biostatistician and physical anthropologist and one of the first academicians of Academia Sinica.With supervision of Dr.K.Pearson,Mr.T.L.Woo obtained his doctoral degrees of statistics and anthropology in 1928 and 1934 respectively.Dr.T.L.Woo was elected as the first Chinese member of the International Statistical Institute in 1931.He was the first Chinese statistician with significant international influences.This paper collates Dr.T.L.Woo’s life and his research and contributions with a perspective of statistical history and hopes that future generations can not only learn his research on both statistical theory and methods,but also his statistical thought emphasizing the linking theory with practice to solve reality issues.
