The Imitation of Bai Juyi by Tongcheng Poems in the Ming and Qing Dynasties

摘  要:明清之际,以潘江、方文等为代表的桐城诗人宗法白居易,此种风气的形成,极有可能受到公安派的启发。但在特殊时期,与公安派崇尚白诗之闲适情调不同,桐城诗学宗白重在其讽喻诗。他们有鉴于七子派与公安派的流弊,主张将模拟与变化相结合,认为诗学史上处理二者关系最为妥当的是白居易,故将其树立为学古的典范。学白之中,较之潘江的援笔而成,方文之学白,加以杜甫锤炼的功夫,进而达到陶渊明诗自然的境界,是苦吟的平易,诗学成就最高。At the turn of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Tongcheng poets,such as Pan Jiang and Fang Wen,imitated Bai Juyi's style of writing under the inspiration of the Gong'an School.However,unlike the Gong'an School in the late Ming Dyansty,which advocated Bai Juyi's leisurely appeal,the Tongcheng School of the Qing Dynasty imitated Bai Juyi's satirical style.Aware of the defects of the Seven-scholar school and Gong'an School,Tongcheng poets aimed to combine imitation with change,by following the example of Bai Juyi who was adept at handling the relationship in the history of poetics.In the imitation of Bai Juyi,while Pan Jiang employed straight adoption,Fang Wenzhi combined Bai Juyi's style with the refinement of Du Fu.Through refined plainness,Fang Wenzhi attained the natural state of Tao Yuanming's poems,which was the highest poetic achievement.
