During the process of gas discharge, luminescence is the most obvious and basic physical phenomenon. As a result of particle transition, the discharge channel glows.Compared with other methods for measuring discharge streamers, the method for collecting optical signals is a non-contact measurement and is not affected by electric field and magnetic field. It has many advantages such as good selectivity, high sensitivity, easy operation, high accuracy and no interference to the discharge system. The method of collecting optical signals is used to study the discharge luminescence of air in short gaps.Under standard atmospheric pressure, discharge experiments were carried out on rod-plate electrodes and tip-tip electrodes at different intervals in air.Optical signals of air at the discharge instant of short-gap rod-plate electrodes and tip-tip electrodes were collected respectively. It can be obtained that streamer discharge increases with the increase of applied voltage. With the increase of applied voltage, the discharge area at the head of streamer rod electrode increases continuously, and the electron temperature and electron concentration are calculated according to the experimental results.
