Objective:To investigate effects of different resistance training methods on the changes of lower limb function with aging(55~74 years old).Methods:84 subjects were divided into 55~64 year old group(FS group)and 65~74 year old group(SS group). Then, subjects in FS group and SS group were divided into the PT and ERT subgroups according to the detection order and formed 4 groups:FS-PT,FS-ERT,SS-PT and SS-ERT.PT and ERT were implemented in 8 weeks(3 times a week).Timed“up and go”test(TUGT),six minute walk test(6mWT)and stair test(ST)were used to evaluate changes in lower limb function with resistance training. Results:TUGT performance in FS and SS stages was obviously improved after PT and ERT(P<0.05),while there was no significant changes in 6mWT performance(P>0.05).SAT and SDT performance in FS and SS stages were obviously improved after PT and ERT(P<0.05),and SAT performance and SDT performance in the SS stage were improved more significantly after ERT(P<0.01).Conclusion:PT and ERT can improve the age-related changes of lower limb function by improving the ability of short-distance walking, sitting from on a chair and standing a chair, and going up and down stairs. The effect of ERT to improve the ability of going up and down stairs could be increased with aging.
