论乔伊斯《死者》与曼斯菲尔德《陌生人》的幻灭书写

摘　　要：詹姆斯•乔伊斯与凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德是西方现代主义文学的杰出代表。他们的作品在主题内涵和创作风格方面有着诸多相似性,《死者》与《陌生人》便是其中的典型之作。这两个短篇书写了主人公对爱情、婚姻、人生以及自我话语权威的多重幻灭,通过描绘其从幻想到幻灭的心賂历程,揭示出其精神上的死亡和孤独感,暗示了现代人普遍存在的精神危机和异化状态,折射出20世纪初西方的社会历史语境。在其小说创作中,两位作家均借助多元的现代主义艺术手法,如顿悟或启示、自由式话语以及象征手法等,巧妙地呈现人物的内心隐秘世界,表现出作品普遍的幻灭主题,从而使小说的形式与内容达到完美统一,也使我们从中领会到了这两位现代文学核心人物深厚的创作功力。As the outstanding modernist writers,James Joyce and Katherine Mansfield present many similarities in terms of the themes and artistic styles of their works,typical of which are The Dead and The Stranger.Both of the two short stories concern the theme of the disillusionment of love,marriage,life,and self dis・course authority,imply the characters9 spiritual death and sense of loneliness through a portrayal of the process from illusion to disillusion,and convey modem man's pervasive spiritual crisis and alienation as a reflection of the social and historical context of the west at the beginning of the 20th century.Besides,the two writers skill-fully reveal the character's inner world and the implied thematic meanings of disillusionment by means of diverse modernist artistic techniques,such as epiphany or revelation,modernistic free discourses,and symbolism,thus facilitating the perfect unity of the form and content and presenting the profound craftsmanship of the two key figures in the modernist literature.
