Objective To observe the effect of low dose percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of senile vertebral fracture with posterior wall damage and without neurological symptoms. Methods 12 elderly patients with vertebral fracture with posterior wall damage and no neurological symptoms were treated with low-dose PVP, and their clinical effects were evaluated by visual analogue scores (VAS) before and 3 days after surgery, respectively. Results On the third day after surgery, the score of sitting pain decreased from 8.36 before surgery to 2.68, with an average improvement of 5.68. The score of rolling pain decreased from 8.06 before surgery to 3.46, with an average improvement of 4.60. Postoperative sleep quality was significantly improved in 10 patients, and 8 patients were able to get out of bed and walk slowly on the first day after surgery. Conclusion Low-dose PVP is effective in the treatment of pain caused by vertebral fracture with posterior wall damage and no neurological symptoms in the elderly, which can improve the quality of life of patients and reduce long-term mortality.
