寻觅“世外桃源”——解析《天国公共马车》中的二元对立

摘　　要：《天国公共马车》是爱德华·摩根·福斯特创作于第一次世界大战前的短篇小说,小说描绘了两个截然不同的世界,一个直接取材于英国现实社会,另一个则带有强烈的乌托邦色彩。通过这二个世界的对立、对比来反映作者对现有社会的反思以及对理想世界的探寻。文章通过解析文中的多个二元对立意象来分析作者建构理想"异界"的意图,意在剖析小说背后潜藏的英国社会问题及英国人的精神状态,将有助于深刻揭示小说主题。The Celestial Omnibus is a short story written by Edward Morgan Foster before the First World War.This story depicts two quite different worlds,one directly based on the reality of Great Britain and the other depicted with a strong Utopian color.Through the opposition and contrast of these two worlds,the author gives his reflections on the existing society and the exploration of the ideal world.This paper analyzes the author’s intention to construct the ideal"exotic state"by analyzing multiple images of binary oppositions in the text.It aims to analyze the British social problems hidden in the story and the mental state of the British people,which will help to reveal the theme of the story.
