摘　　要：民族应该划分为狭义民族和广义民族两种,狭义民族是指具备斯大林所说的民族四大特征或中央民族工作会议上提出的民族六大特征的具体的某一个民族共同体,如汉族、匈奴族、蒙古族等等;广义民族则指具有或某种程度具有民族特征的包括两个狭义民族以上的多个狭义民族的人们共同体,如原始民族、古代民族、游牧民族、中华民族(即国族)等等。目前一些学者所引用的西方和日本学者有关民族“是一个政治共同体”的民族定义,不过是广义的“国族”定义而已,既不包括狭义民族,也不包括其余的广义民族,不能颠覆具有普遍意义的民族概念。从西方传入的“族群”概念涵义模糊,如果说“族群”是处于“政治共同体”的“民族”下位的话,那么,“族群”就具有发展成为“政治共同体”的“民族”并建立自己民族国家的必然前景,是十分有害的;如果说“族群”是指斯大林所说的具有四特征的“民族”下位的话,不见得比斯大林所说的“部族”高明多少;如果说“族群”是指斯大林四特征的民族的话,更没有必要用“族群”颠覆“民族”。我国学者已经在吸取、改造斯大林民族理论的基础之上形成了我们自己的民族理论体系,没有必要以西方没有形成统一认识的民族理论为圭臬,并按照他们的理论用“国族”和“族群”去颠覆民族,应该形成我们自己的有关民族理论的话语权。Nationality should be divided into the one on narrow sense and the one on broad sense. The former refers to a national community possessing the four characteristics of nationality said by Stalin or the six characteristics proposed on Central Working Conference about Nationality Affairs;and the latter refers to ethnic community including multiple nationalities possessing the national characteristics at least to a certain extent. At present, the definition of nationality as “a political commuity” held by Western and Japanese scholars is only a definition of nationstate on broad sense, which could not include nationality both on narrow sense and on broad sense. The meaning of the concept “ethnic group” being introduced from the West is fuzzy and even harmful. Chinese scholars have formed the theory and discourse on nationality of our own, and there is no need to take the Western theory on nationality as criterion, and overturn the concept of nationality with “nationstate” and “ethnic group” according to their theory.
