空间批评视角下《甘加丁之路》探析

摘　　要：《甘加丁之路》是“华裔文学之父”赵健秀的代表性作品。文章以列斐伏尔的空间批评理论为基础,分别从物理空间、精神空间和社会空间三个方面着手,探讨了赵健秀在《甘加丁之路》中展现主人公尤利西斯背后各种空间的表现手法,分析作者在构建空间的背后所展现出的白人文化与华裔文化的矛盾冲突,揭示当时美国主流社会对华裔的歧视与不公,继而探寻作品中所反映的身份认同和文化诉求等深层意义,以此揭开作品渴望华裔们摆脱旧的刻板形象、树立阳刚自由的新华裔形象的主题。“Ganga Ding Highway”is the representative work of Zhao Jianxiu,who is known as“the father of Chinese-American literature”.On the basis of Lefebvre’s theory of spatial criticism,respectively from three aspects:physical space,spiritual space,and social space,the technics that the writer employed to express spaces are explored to analyze the conflicts,between Chinese Americans and the mainstream Americans,reflected from the space construction.The prejudice and unfair treatment that the mainstream Americans hold to Chinese Americans are revealed.Then,it explores the deep meaning of identity and cultural appeal reflected in the works,so as to uncover the theme that the works yearn for Chinese Americans to get rid of the old stereotyped image and establish a masculine and free image of new Chinese Americans.
