Objective:To observe the effects of acupuncture at Taichong(LR3)and Taixi(KI3)on GLUT1 and GLUT3 expressions and related energy metabolism in hypothalamus of spontaneous hypertension rats. Methods:Spontaneous hypertension rats were randomly divided into the model group(n=12),the Chong-Xi group(n=12),the sham point group(n=12)and the control group(n=12).Rats in the Chong-Xi group and the sham point group were needled once per day for 5 min,6 days in one week, and 4 weeks in all.Immunochemistry staining was used to identify the expression levels of the GLUT1 and GLUT3.Results:After the 4-week acupuncture intervention, the GLUT1 and GLUT3 of the model group were lower than those of the Chong-Xi group and the control group.Compared with the sham point group, the expression levels of the GLUT1 and GLUT3 were improved in the Chong-Xi group. Conclusion:Acupuncture at Taichong(LR3)and Taixi(KI3)can lower blood pressure of spontaneous hypertension rats and its mechanism may be related to the regulation of the expressions of GLUT1 and GLUT3 in hypothalamus.
