《围城》中的长者及其文化意蕴  

Senior Folks in The Besieged City and Their Cultural Implications

摘　　要：《围城》中作为次要人物的众多长者多为研究者所忽略。这些长者可以分成两个群体--以方遯翁为主要代表的群体和以张吉民夫妇、陆先生夫妇为主要代表的群体,前一个群体坚持中国文化本体地位,诠释了以伦理性为基础的中国文化,后一个群体的成员或多或少接受了西方文化,从而偏离了中国文化。长者们不同的文化趋向与文化认同,表现了"鸦片战争"后中西文化的融汇与激烈撞击以及传统文化的"话语权"的变化,由此也可以看到《围城》的文化深度。Normally less attention is paid to senior folks who are the minor characters in The Besieged City. These senior folks can be classified into two groups: the first group, with Fang Tunweng the most representative, embodies ethically-based Chinese culture;the second group, with the Zhangs and the Lus the most typical, demonstrates the intercourse and clash between the western culture and Chinese culture. The Zhangs epitomize the reformists who adhere to the ontological status of Chinese culture and adopt the western learning for practical use, while the Lus stand for the extreme westernizationists who are astray from and deconstruct Chinese culture. Different cultural stances of senior folks shows that Chinese culture is becoming more and more dominated in the course of the cultural intercourse and clash between China and the western world after the Opium War;therefore, the cultural depth of The Besieged City is simultaneously revealed to readers.
